80 days to go!!! :) :) Time is flying! Less than 3 months! Can you believe it!?!?
By now everyone should have received their invitations in the mail. If you received a save-the-date card, but haven't received an invitation, call us as soon as possible!
The wedding plans are starting to really come together. We wanted to give everyone an update. We updated and filled in the times on the "EVENTS" tab of the blog. Make sure you check it out. If anyone has any questions about the wedding or any of the other plans, please call or email us.
Here is a great website with lots of general information about the Cayman Islands: CLICK HERE
Here are the answers to some typical questions we are getting:
Is the wedding on the beach? YES!!! The ceremony and cocktail hour will be on the beach at The Ritz-Carlton hotel. The wedding reception will be indoors. It's in the Grand Cayman Ballroom inside The Ritz.
What is the wedding attire? The attire is known as Caribbean Chic (also known as "Beach Formal"). Which pretty much means women wear sun dresses or casual dresses, men wear dress pants (or linen pants) and a summer dress shirt. Typically, no ties. Just think Caribbean!
What is the attire for the Welcome Dinner, Sunday Brunch, and Sunset Cruise? The attire for all of these events is causal. Probably no different than what you would wear in a beach resort if you were going out to breakfast or lunch.
Do I need a passport to travel to Grand Cayman? YES!!!! IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE YET AND YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING, GET ONE TOMORROW! You're running out of time!
What is the best way to get around in Grand Cayman? There are plenty of taxis available throughout Grand Cayman, especially at all hotels. For the wedding events, we will have a shuttle bus running between the Marriott and the Ritz before and after each event. The hotels are only about 1 mile apart for those of you that are really into walking on the beach.
Are there babysitting services available? Neither hotel have babysitting services thru the hotel, but the wedding coordinator at The Ritz has sent us a list of sitters on the island. If anyone is interested, let us know and we'll email you the list. The Ritz does have a very impressive Kids Club that is available to be reserved. Also, there are several "babysitter aged" kids attending the wedding weekend that may be willing to sacrifice a night in Grand Cayman to watch your children if you ask them nice ($$) enough ;)
Can you walk/jog the entire "7 Mile Beach"? We've been told the entire 7 mile beach is public and accessible. It's about a 1 mile walk down the beach between the Marriott and the Ritz if you're looking to get some exercise in between all the fun!
Does Grand Cayman use the same electricity as the US? Yes. The electricity is in Grand Cayman is 120V, the same as the US. Any electrical items you bring will work without a converter.
Is the currency used in Grand Cayman the same as the US? No! In Grand Cayman, the Cayman Island Dollar (CI$) is used. The exchange rate is each CI$ is worth 1.2 US dollars. So if you see something that looks somewhat inexpensive while you're out and about in Grand Cayman, and the item is in CI$, you need to multiply the price by 1.2 X to get the actual price in US dollars. We have heard US dollars are accepted at most restaurants and stores around Grand Cayman. $1.00 US dollar would be about CI$ 80 cents.
What type of weather should be expected? The typical weather in Grand Cayman in the month of April is anywhere from 75 to 85 degrees and sunny. Occasional rain, but typically gorgeous weather. Hopefully, we aren't jinxing ourselves by saying this. Keep your fingers crossed for great weather for all 3 days!
Please email us if you have any questions or suggestions.
More updates to come!...

Less than 6 months until the big day! We are getting very excited as the date approaches and are hard at work making all the arrangements for the weekend events. It's going to be a great time... We can't wait!!! :)
PLEASE make your hotel reservations as soon as possible if you are planning on coming... Currently, we have a block of 10 rooms reserved at the Ritz, and 15 at the Marriott; but the rooms are being reserved quickly. If we see they're filling up with enough time to spare before the wedding, we'll try to reserve more rooms at the same rate. So make your reservations ASAP!!!
TO OBTAIN THE WEDDING HOTEL RATE, YOU MUST CONTACT ROSEMARIE, OUR TRAVEL COORDINATOR.
Also, if you don't yet have a passport, don't forget to leave enough time for it to arrive. It typically takes at least 4-6 weeks after applying to receive your passport.
If you have any questions about making either hotel reservations or flight reservations for the wedding, please contact either Trish or Chris and we'll help in any way we can.
